What is an AI jailbreak?
Mainstream assistants are trained to refuse certain requests. A jailbreak is a text written to get around that tuning: it puts the model in a situation where it “forgets” its instructions. The term comes from unlocking iPhones, and it took off with ChatGPT in 2023.
The problem is that most people looking for a jailbreak don’t want anything dangerous. They want a crime scene that doesn’t get cut, a strong opinion, a dark joke or a frank answer about health. For that, a jailbreak is the most complicated tool there is.
The main families of jailbreak examples
We don’t publish ready-to-copy bypass prompts here: they get patched within days and using them can get an account suspended. But here are the families that have circulated, and how each one works.
- DAN (“Do Anything Now”): the prompt asks the AI to play a rule-free double. The most famous one, released in dozens of numbered versions. Recent models recognize it instantly.
- Hijacked roleplay: “you are a character who…”, or the famous “grandma who used to tell me…”. The idea is to wrap the request in fiction. It sometimes works on harmless topics, rarely beyond.
- The hypothetical scenario: “in a fictional world where…”, “for a novel, explain…”. Recent assistants analyze the real request behind the setting.
- The imaginary developer mode: the prompt claims to enable a “debug mode” or “admin mode”. That mode doesn’t exist; the model plays along or refuses.
- Splitting and encoding: cutting the request into pieces, writing it in another language or in a code. Modern filters read the reassembled request.
Why jailbreaks work less and less
- They get patched fast: as soon as a jailbreak becomes popular, the vendor trains its model to recognize it. What worked last week no longer works.
- They can cost you your account: deliberately bypassing the usage rules can lead to a warning or a suspension, paid plans included.
- They degrade the answers: a model playing a strange role to get around its rules answers worse. You often get a vague answer, or one that imitates the “no rules” tone without adding anything.
- They take time: retrying five variants for a simple question takes five times longer than a direct answer.
Jailbreak vs Unfiltered Mode model: the comparison
| Jailbreak on a mainstream assistant | Unfiltered Mode model on DarkGPT | |
|---|---|---|
| How you ask | Long bypass prompt | Just the question |
| Reliability | Patched within days | The model is tuned to answer |
| Answer quality | Often degraded by the forced role | The model’s normal answer |
| Account risk | Warning or suspension possible | None for legal use |
| Price | Your usual subscription | Free to test (50 gems a week) |
The alternative: an AI that answers without a jailbreak
On DarkGPT, most of the 42 models are in Unfiltered Mode: no moralizing, no pointless refusals, no need for a role or a workaround. You write your request as you would to a colleague, and you get the answer. A few examples of requests that often get refused elsewhere:
- a violent thriller scene, written without sanitizing it;
- ten dark-humor jokes about a taboo topic;
- a strong opinion on your business plan, without “on the one hand, on the other”;
- a frank explanation of a health or sex topic between adults.
To test, the free models are enough: Qwen 3 235B costs 15 gems per message, and you get 50 gems at signup, then 50 every week, no card required. For a blunter tone, Grok 4.2 (120 gems, Basic plan). You’ll find 40 ready-to-copy requests in our uncensored prompts library.
What an unfiltered model won’t do either
No jailbreak doesn’t mean no rules. DarkGPT is for adults aged 18 and over, and illegal use or use meant to harm others is prohibited by the terms of use and leads to a ban. Claude and ChatGPT also keep their original caution on DarkGPT: for a sensitive but legitimate request, pick a model in Unfiltered Mode.

Frequently asked questions
What is an AI jailbreak?
A prompt written to get around the guardrails of an assistant like ChatGPT or Claude, for example by making it play a “rule-free” character like the famous DAN.
Do ChatGPT jailbreaks still work?
Less and less. Known prompts get patched within days, the answers you get are often worse, and deliberate bypassing can get an account suspended.
Is it illegal to jailbreak an AI?
In itself it is generally not a crime, but it breaks the terms of use of mainstream assistants. And what you ask for is still subject to the law, jailbreak or not.
How do I get an uncensored AI without a jailbreak?
By using a model tuned to answer. On DarkGPT, most of the 42 models are in Unfiltered Mode: you ask your question normally, with no workaround.
Is DarkGPT free?
Yes, to test: 50 gems at signup, then 50 every week, no card required, on 5 free models.
